Environmental Health

Many diseases can be initiated, promoted, sustained or stimulated by environmental factors.  For that reason, “Environmental Health is the segment of Public Health that is concerned with assessing, understanding and controlling the impact of people on their environment and the impact of the environment on them.” 

The main office of the Environmental Health Unit is located at the Charlestown Health Centre, Main Street. However there are four districts to service the island, namely: 
  1. Charlestown
  2. Combermere
  3. Gingerland
  4. Cotton Ground

Nevis Government extends contract for delivery of geothermal energy

CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (March 19, 2010) — A new date has been set for the delivery of geothermal energy to Nevis. The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) granted a request for an extension from West Indies Power Ltd. to make good on the contracted period from late 2010 to June 2011. (more…)
