Students receive Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Award

Four students are now the new recipients of the Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Award. The students were presented with their awards by Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Youth and Community Development on Nevis, on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Alexander Hamilton Museum Grounds, during the annual staging of the Alexander Hamilton Tea Party in commemoration of his indelible historical presence.

Community Development Department on Nevis holds first Community Day Fair

NIA CHARLESTOWN (MAY 23, 2016) – The Community Development Department hosted its first Community Day Fair on Friday May 20, 2016, at the D. R Walywn Plaza. The event forms part of a month of activities hosted by the department as a part of Community Development Month. The theme is “Our community, our commitment, our concern.”
The fair featured local entrepreneurs including Isiah Parry who showcased his hand carved mahogany sculptures, Chapman’s Stone Art, Kennedy’s Hand Craft Centre, Micheal ‘Wise’ Herman displaying medicinal herbs, Agro-Processor Olvis Dyer of Dypresco Products among others.
Director of Community Development in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) Janette Maloney, told the Department of Information that apart from enlighten the public about the work of the Department, urging members of the public to appreciate their community using a holistic approach was also a highlight.
