Mr. Lemuel Pemberton, Deputy Director of the Department of Marine Resources in St. Kitts and Nevis, is calling on fisherfolk on Nevis to join the Nevis Fishermen’s Marketing and Supply Cooperative Society Limited, mindful of the important role they play in the island’s food security.
Hon. Spencer Brand, Minister of Communication and Works in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), has commended employees at the Public Works Department for the renovation work they have been engaged in on government owned buildings and facilities in and around Charlestown.
Members of the public must stop interfering with sea turtles which come to the island’s shores to nest or risk being caught, arrested, taken before the court and fined hefty sums of money.
Mr. Lemuel Pemberton, Deputy Director of the Marine Resources Department on Nevis continues to call on the public to resist the urge to poach nesting sea turtles on the island’s shores to help preserve the critically endangered species as listed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES).
