Nevis’ Teadrian Tross Returns from Goodwill Swimming Championships with Bronze Medal

Nevis’ Teadrian Tross wins bronze in the Boys 11–12 50m Freestyle for team St. Kitts and Nevis at 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad and Tobago

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 18, 2026) – Nevis’ Teadrian Tross has returned home from the 30th Goodwill Swimming Championships with a bronze medal, the only medal won by the St. Kitts and Nevis Aquatics Federation during its historic debut at the regional competition.

Tross captured bronze in the Boys 11–12 50m Freestyle on Saturday, August 15, clocking a personal-best time of 27.40 seconds on day two of the Championships. The competition was held at the National Aquatics Centre in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.

Director of Sports Ajaye Newton was among officials and family members who gathered at the Oualie Water Taxi Facility on Monday to welcome the young swimmer home.

Newton said Tross’ medal-winning performance came as no surprise, given his consistent performances throughout his swimming career. He said Nevis and the wider Federation are proud of the 12-year-old’s accomplishment.

“He’s going to grow from bound to bound and leap to leap. This gold medal, I feel, is just a glimpse of what’s to come from Teadrian. He’s an exceptional ambassador and he does well every time he’s away. He went out and represented well and made all of us proud, so congratulations!”

Newton also congratulated Tross’ parents, noting that their continued support has played an important role in his development and success as a swimmer.

Tross credited his parents for keeping him motivated and said he was determined to make their support worthwhile.

“To go to Trinidad and not do something big, it would just be a trip. To help them feel special for all the time they spend on me, I put out my best and came back with a medal,” the 12-year-old said.

Team SKN also delivered a strong overall performance at the Championships, with all six swimmers recording improvements on their previous personal-best times.

Nevis’ Jazelle Connor was also part of the historic team, competing in the Girls 15–17 category. The other members of Team SKN were Gaj Leonce and Rhaejaan Jacobs in the Boys 9–10 category, and Valentino Esposito and Saulo Sahely in the Boys 11–12 category.
