Premier Brantley Welcomes Kosovo Ambassador, Looks to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (October 09, 2026)- Honourable Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis and Leader of the Opposition in St. Kitts and Nevis, on Friday, October 9, received a courtesy call at his office from His Excellency Enis Xhemaili, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Premier Brantley welcomed Ambassador Xhemaili to Nevis, recalling his role as Minister of Foreign Affairs when St. Kitts and Nevis formally established diplomatic relations with Kosovo in 2016 and subsequently concluded a visa-waiver agreement between the two countries.

Reflecting on those diplomatic milestones, Premier Brantley expressed optimism about exploring further areas of collaboration to strengthen relations between the two countries.

“We are very happy we had those diplomatic breakthroughs back in 2016 and now almost a decade later you are here to see us. I feel it’s a good opportunity for us to discuss new ways in which we can cooperate, in which our two countries can do more together.

“So I welcome you to Nevis, to St. Kitts and Nevis and I welcome you to the Caribbean. I look forward to engaging with you and to discuss what opportunities there may be for further cooperation so that we can deepen and strengthen the relationship between our two countries.”

Ambassador Xhemaili expressed his pleasure at visiting Nevis, noting that he would be spending several days in the Federation. He also remarked on the island’s natural beauty and expressed hope that St. Kitts and Nevis and Kosovo would strengthen their ties across various fields in the years ahead.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Kosovo’s appreciation for the Federation’s support and highlighted his commitment to advancing the relationship.

“I would like to underline that the government and people of Kosovo are very grateful to St. Kitts and Nevis for the continuous bipartisan support to the Republic of Kosovo…We take pride in our relationship and friendship. As I am the third Ambassador from the Republic of Kosovo to St. Kitts and Nevis I am committed to elevating these relations to higher levels.”

Ambassador Xhemaili further explained that, during meetings with the Governor-General and the Acting Prime Minister in St. Kitts, a number of additional instruments had been proposed for consideration. He indicated that he would share those proposals with Premier Brantley to explore opportunities for cooperation with the Nevis Island Administration.

The Ambassador also expressed his admiration for Nevis and his desire to promote the island to the people of Kosovo.

During the courtesy call, Ambassador Xhemaili presented Premier Brantley with an ornate souvenir from Kosovo. In return, the Premier presented the Ambassador with a commemorative gift bag containing locally made products and other items, highlighting aspects of Nevis’ culture and craftsmanship.
