The Honourable Mervil Jahnel Nisbett is a prominent Nevisian politician and community leader who currently serves as a Cabinet Minister in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and a Senator in the Nevis Island Assembly. Representing the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM), she was sworn into office in December 2022 and holds a diverse set of portfolios, including the Minister of Health, Gender Affairs, Community Affairs, and Social Services. Her academic background is distinguished by a first-class honours degree in History with a minor in Anthropology from the University of the West Indies. Prior to her ministerial appointment, she spent a decade contributing to the education and heritage sectors of Nevis, serving as a teacher of English and Communication Studies at the Charlestown Secondary School and as the Executive Director of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society. In her ministerial capacity, Nisbett has become a vocal advocate for social empowerment and the protection of vulnerable populations.
