NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (June 29, 2026)- Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, has expressed profound gratitude that there was no loss of life following a boating incident involving an inter-island ferry en route to Nevis off the coast of Basseterre on the morning of June 29.
In a statement posted to social media shortly after the incident, Premier Brantley gave thanks for the safety of those on board and commended the emergency response.
“My office has received news of an accident at sea involving one of our inter-island ferries. At this point the information is that all passengers and crew are safe. We are grateful to our Coast Guard. We are grateful to God,” he posted to social media.
The Premier also extended his appreciation to the crews of other vessels that responded to the scene and assisted in the rescue effort.
He further commended the swift response of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), which transported several passengers to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
