The sold-out SKANAG gala, held in Stone Mountain, Georgia, brought together nationals from Georgia and other states across the United States to celebrate the Federation’s 43rd Independence Anniversary, heritage and national pride while fostering community connections and recognizing contributions to St. Kitts and Nevis and its diaspora. As the featured speaker, Premier Brantley used his address to encourage members of the diaspora to rekindle their connection to the country of their birth and ancestry and to consider returning home to live and invest. His appeal reflects a longstanding priority of the Nevis Island Administration to deepen engagement with Nevisians overseas and create practical pathways for their return and participation in the island’s development. To that end his administration has established a dedicated Diaspora Unit within government to streamline processes for members of the diaspora wishing to return home or invest in Nevis. The Premier has also promoted initiatives aimed at encouraging nationals abroad to bring their skills, experience and resources back to Nevis, including the Returning Nationals and Diaspora Investment Programme announced by his government to incentivize members of the diaspora to return home and create employment opportunities. His participation in the Georgia gala therefore provided an opportunity to reinforce the message that nationals living overseas remain an important part of Nevis’ development and are encouraged to see the island not simply as a place of birth or ancestry, but as a place to live, invest and contribute to its future.

NIA commissions new 500,000-gallon tank to boost Nevis water security

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (September 10, 2026)- The Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM)-led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) has commissioned a new 500,000-gallon glass-fused water storage tank at Stoney Hill, marking another significant investment in strengthening water security and resilience on Nevis. The tank, which was officially commissioned on Thursday, forms part of the NIA’s ongoing efforts to expand water storage capacity and ensure a more reliable supply to communities, businesses and essential services across the island. Minister responsible for Works and Water Services, the Honourable Spencer Brand, said the project represents more than the addition of storage infrastructure, describing it as an investment in the island’s resilience and future development. “Over the past decade, the Nevis Island Administration has made water a major infrastructure priority. During that period, our investment in the water sector – including water production, storage, distribution, wells, pumping infrastructure, pipelines and other improvements- has been well over EC$50 million,” he said. “That is a substantial commitment for an island of our size, and it demonstrates that this Administration understands a fundamental truth: without a reliable supply of water, sustainable development simply cannot take place.” Minister Brand noted that water is essential across every sector of the island’s economy and social infrastructure. He explained that increased storage capacity is particularly important because water production alone is not sufficient to guarantee reliability. “Homes need water. Our schools and health facilities need water. Agriculture needs water. Hotels and businesses need water. Construction and new housing developments need water. And every family on Nevis deserves access to a safe and reliable supply,” he said. “The commissioning of this 500,000-gallon tank, therefore, represents another important step in strengthening our overall system. Storage is particularly important because producing water is only one part of the equation. We must also have the capacity to store sufficient quantities so that the system has a buffer during periods of high demand, maintenance, emergencies or interruptions in production.” The infrastructure work for the project commenced in February 2026, while construction of the 60-foot-diameter by 30-foot-high tank was completed in May. The works were undertaken by contractor and Principal of Precision Construction, Ronell Webbe, and his team. Floyd Robinson, Director of the NIA’s Integrated Water Resource Management Unit (IWRM), said the new tank, together with the existing tank at the Stoney Hill site, brings total storage capacity at the location to one million gallons. He explained that this represents approximately a three-day supply should a disaster or other emergency cause the pumps at the nearby feeder wells to become inoperable. The two tanks can supply communities south of Stoney Hill, as well as areas as far as Charlestown. Minister Brand said the NIA is also looking beyond traditional groundwater sources as it plans for the island’s long-term water needs. “Climate change, prolonged dry periods, changing rainfall patterns and increasing demand require us to diversify our sources of supply. That is why desalination will form an increasingly important part of our water-security strategy.” “Our plans for expanded desalination capacity, together with additional storage, improved pumping systems, better monitoring and continued efforts to reduce leakage and water losses, are all part of building a more resilient water network.” He said the NIA’s approach is focused not only on meeting current demand but also on ensuring that water infrastructure is capable of supporting Nevis’ continued growth. “Our objective must be ambitious but achievable. We are therefore not merely responding to today’s demand. We are planning for the Nevis of tomorrow. We are planning for more homes, more hotels, increased agricultural production, expanding commercial activity and a growing economy. The infrastructure we build today must have the capacity to support that future,” Minister Brand said. Also delivering remarks at the commissioning ceremony were Acting Premier, the Honourable Eric Evelyn; Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Water Services, Denzil Stanley; and Juzan Dore, brother of project contractor Ronell Webbe of Precision Construction. Op-Ed by Premier Mark Brantley- Nevis: The Luxury of Optionality NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (September 03, 2026)- The following is an Op-Ed by Premier of Nevis the Honourable Mark Brantley The Greatest Luxury in Today’s World Is Optionality: Why Nevis Matters for High-Net-Worth Families In an age of increased global volatility and geopolitical uncertainty, wealth is no longer measured simply by what your family owns. Increasingly, wealth is measured by the options your family has. I posit that the Caribbean- and Nevis in particular- is well positioned to answer some of the most critical questions facing high net worth families today: Where can you go if your home country or region becomes unstable? Where can your family live safely? Where can you preserve and structure legitimate wealth? Where can your children grow up in peace? Where can you establish a second home and still enjoy quality of life? And where can you find a government and legal system that respect property, privacy, human rights, democracy and the rule of law? These are no longer theoretical questions for many families. They are increasingly questions of resilience, security and optionality. The Caribbean is increasingly relevant and can become increasingly attractive to HNWFs for a number of reasons. We are far removed from the major theatres of war and many of the geopolitical tensions affecting Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia. The English-speaking Caribbean consists of established parliamentary democracies with long traditions of free and fair elections and peaceful transfers of power. Caribbean legal traditions are grounded in English common law, providing a framework international investors understand and our judicial system is fiercely independent. Small Caribbean states are not seeking military influence, territorial expansion or geopolitical confrontation. That low geopolitical exposure is not a detriment. It has strategic value. At the same time, the Caribbean provides geographical separation without isolation. We are close to North America, South America, Canada and have easy connectivity to Europe. We are close to major financial and commercial centres yet retain our own lifestyle and identity. There is also an English-speaking environment, sophisticated professional services and familiar legal structures. And then there is quality of life. The Caribbean remains one of the most beautiful and sought after destinations in the world. Climate, natural environment, privacy, lower population density and a slower pace of life become considerably more valuable when the rest of the world feels increasingly unsettled. But Why Nevis? At just 36 square miles and 13,500 inhabitants, Nevis is small enough to be personal, sophisticated enough to be global, and stable enough to be a safe haven. Our size is an advantage. Nevis is a small community. Government is accessible. Institutions are accessible. People know their neighbours. For HNWFs this sense of safety and security matters. Nevis has deliberately avoided becoming a mass-tourism destination. The luxury model is low-density and discreet rather than crowded and ostentatious. There is privacy without isolation. The island saw its first hotel, the Bath Hotel, built in 1778 and has centuries of experience welcoming affluent international residents and visitors. But Nevis is more than a physical sanctuary. Very few small islands combine an upscale residential environment with an over 40 year mature and well run international financial-services sector. Nevis has developed a sophisticated legal architecture encompassing international trusts, LLCs, corporations and multiform foundations, supported by licensed trust and corporate service providers, law firms and a robust regulatory framework. Importantly, Nevis does not offer a place to hide wealth. Nevis offers a respected jurisdiction in which legitimate wealth can be protected, structured and transferred responsibly from one generation to the next. That distinction matters. Stability Has Value As part of the OECS, Nevis also benefits from currency and financial stability. This year we celebrate 50 years of the Eastern Caribbean dollar being fixed at EC$2.70 to US$1 with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (headquartered in St. Kitts) recently reporting a backing ratio of approximately 99.5%, substantially above its statutory minimum of 60%. For half a century our currency has been anchored to the US dollar. In a world of currency volatility, that history of monetary discipline and stability matters. St. Martin Delegation Visits Nevis to Explore Geothermal Energy Development

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 30, 2026)- Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, on Sunday, August 30, welcomed a delegation from St. Martin led by the Honourable Louis Mussington, President of the Territorial Council of Saint Martin, for a visit focused primarily on Nevis’ geothermal energy project. Premier Brantley, Minister of Energy in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) was accompanied by the Honourable Spencer Brand, Minister of Works. President Mussington was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Charlise Mussington; Mr. Alex Mussington, Commissioner of Saint-Martin to the OECS; and Madame Cyrielle Cuireassier, Advisor on External Affairs. During the visit, Premier Brantley and Minister Brand led the delegation on a tour of key sites, beginning with the Geothermal Site at Hamilton. Premier Brantley provided an overview of the project, including the progress made to date and the projected timeline as the NIA advances efforts to bring the island’s geothermal resource into energy production. “We did exploration wells and now for the production we’re going to bore a much bigger well…They were able to test the flow, the temperature, and all of that, and Nevis we are told has, they claim, the seventh best geothermal resource in the world. We have the heat, the sites here are all very accessible, and these sites have all been mapped already. So, we’re going to start at N4 and then these other sites are there for potential development.” Premier Brantley also informed the delegation that a driller has been contracted and that the drill rig has undergone inspection in Iceland, with plans underway to mobilize the equipment to Nevis. “So if you come back in three months, we hope to see a lot of activity on this site. We’re mobilizing now, and based on what we’re hearing, we could see activity beginning within the next 60 days or so. That would be a huge milestone.” The delegation reviewed an informational board detailing the geothermal project, with President Mussington asking several questions about the development. He expressed his admiration for the progress made by the NIA in advancing the island’s geothermal resource and registered St. Martin’s interest in accessing clean energy from Nevis. As part of their visit, the St. Martin delegation also toured the Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC) Power Plant at Prospect. Hazel Chiverton, Acting General Manager, and Generation Manager Jevon Eaton led the delegation through the plant, providing an overview of the generation sets and the company’s electricity generation operations. The delegation was also treated to lunch at Drift Restaurant and visited the historic Bath Springs before departing Nevis for St. Kitts. Premier Brantley Urges Men to Prioritise Prostate Health

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 27, 2026)– Premier of Nevis the Honourable Mark Brantley is urging men to take prostate health seriously and get regular examinations as Nevis joins the observance of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September. Premier Brantley, speaking on the importance of early detection, warned men against waiting until symptoms appear before seeking medical attention. “As we observe Prostate Awareness Month this September, I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to the men of Nevis. Prostate cancer is not something to be ignored or to be taken lightly. The statistics show that the rate of prostate cancer among black men is particularly high. “If you have a family who has prostate cancer, your risks are greater. The older you get, the greater the risks become. It is therefore critically important that you get checked. Do not wait until symptoms develop. That may well be too late.” The Premier encouraged men to speak with their doctors and healthcare providers about prostate health, get examined, know their status and take control of their wellbeing. He also called on women to play a supportive role by encouraging the men in their lives to prioritise screening. “Please encourage your menfolk, your boyfriends, your husbands, your brothers, your cousins. Encourage them to get checked and to know their status. Let’s fight prostate cancer together.” The Department of Gender Affairs Nevis is using the awareness month to reinforce the importance of prevention, early detection and informed health decisions among men. The Caribbean carries a significant prostate cancer burden, with the disease ranking as the leading cancer diagnosed among men in the region. In 2022, prostate cancer accounted for approximately 22,271 new cases and 9,695 deaths in the Caribbean. Black men face a significantly higher risk of developing and dying from prostate cancer. They are twice as likely to die from the disease, while approximately one in six black men is diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. Men, particularly those at increased risk, are encouraged to have conversations with their healthcare providers about screening, including PSA testing, and to determine the appropriate age and frequency for examinations. Premier Brantley said collective awareness and action can help reduce the impact of prostate cancer on men, their families and the wider community.

Nevis Geothermal Project Reaches Final Pre-Mobilisation Milestone as Drill Rig Inspected in Iceland

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 26, 2026) – The Nevis Geothermal Project has reached another significant milestone, as the drill rig that will be used to develop the island’s geothermal resource undergoing its final independent inspection in Iceland ahead of mobilisation to Nevis. Premier of Nevis and Minister of Energy in the Nevis Island Administration, the Honourable Mark Brantley, provided the update during his monthly press conference on Tuesday, August 25, noting that the inspection represents the final major requirement before the rig can be transported to the island. “The final pre-condition for mobilization of the drill rig to Nevis is an inspection of that drill rig, and that inspection is currently underway in Iceland,” he said. The inspection, being conducted from August 24 to 28 by Scotia Drilling Consultants, a UK-based specialist in drilling-rig inspections, is focused on the rig’s structural, mechanical, operational and safety systems. NEVLEC General Manager Nelson Ald Stapleton and Project Coordinator Naftalie Errar are in Iceland overseeing the process and engaging with drilling, engineering and geothermal specialists. Premier Brantley said successful completion of the inspection will clear the way for the next stage of the project. “Once this drill rig inspection is completed, then it would mean that we have now done all that is necessary in order to move this to the next phase, which is the actual mobilization of the rig to the island of Nevis.” The approximately 272-metric-tonne Drillmec HH-300 “Týr” rig is expected to drill five geothermal wells at the Hamilton geothermal site. While preparations are advancing overseas, technical work is also underway at the Hamilton site in Nevis to prepare for the arrival of the rig and commencement of drilling. Premier Brantley said soil testing and other technical assessments began this week as part of preparations for the well pad and associated civil works. He explained that the well pad will provide the foundation on which the drilling rig will be positioned. “Civil works for the well pad will be done by a company called COWI and that too is a company from Iceland and that company will be supervised by Iceland Drilling.” The development of the geothermal wells is a critical component of the wider project, which is intended to harness Nevis’ indigenous geothermal resource for electricity generation. The planned 30-megawatt power plant would use the geothermal resource to generate clean, renewable electricity, reducing Nevis and St. Kitts’ dependence on imported fossil fuels and strengthening the Federation’s energy security. The project is being led by the Nevis Island Administration, with the Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) serving as the executing agency, and with support from the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. Premier Brantley disclosed that the NIA has already remitted approximately US$6 million to Iceland Drilling to help advance the project. The Premier also highlighted growing regional interest in the potential energy generated from Nevis’ geothermal resource, noting that the project could have implications beyond the Federation. He pointed to an upcoming visit by the leader of St. Martin, who is interested in discussions about geothermal development and whether St. Martin could ultimately access energy generated in Nevis. Premier Brantley expressed appreciation to NEVLEC, Mr. Stapleton, and Scotia Drilling Consultants for their contributions and expertise in advancing the project and conducting the drill inspection in Iceland. He also reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between the NIA and the Federal Government in moving the project toward commercialisation. “I never speak about this project without referencing the participation of the Federal Government and to say again my gratitude to Prime Minister [Hon. Dr. Terrance] Drew for his partnership on seeking to bring this particular project to commercialization for the benefit of all the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 24, 2026)– Minister responsible for Disaster Management and the Environment in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), the Honourable Spencer Brand, has encouraged participants of the Nevis Disaster Management Department’s (NDMD) Summer Safety Camp to share the knowledge and skills they acquired with their families, schools and communities to help build a safer and more resilient Nevis. The Minister made the call during the camp’s closing ceremony on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreation Park, where he addressed the 75 children who participated in the two-week programme. “Do not keep what you have learned over the past two weeks to yourselves. I want you to be ambassadors in your household, in your classroom, in your church, in your place of play, and in your community, and be sure that all that you have learned can be transferred and transmitted to everyone whom you come into contact with. “At the NDMD there are things that we keep training and preparing ourselves for that we hope we will never, ever have to use, but I’m hoping that if the time comes when you have to put your training into action that you will have the confidence and assurance that you can make a difference.” The Summer Safety Camp, held from August 10 to 21 under the theme “Be Safe. Be Smart. Be Ready,” provided children between the ages of five and 15 with practical knowledge and hands-on experiences designed to strengthen their awareness of safety, disaster preparedness and healthy living. Over the two weeks, participants learned about road safety, disaster management, food and nutrition, first aid and CPR, fire safety, fire drills and radio communications. The programme also included hiking, arts and crafts, community tours and heritage field trips. Minister Brand highlighted the camp’s broad-based programme and its role in contributing to the overall development of the participants. “Over the last two weeks you have been engaged in a number of activities that go towards protecting the environment and protecting your safety and the safety of your family and the entire community. Specialist Dialysis Staff Begin Arriving on Nevis as Unit Nears Completion

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 24, 2026)– Four specialist healthcare professionals who will form part of the team at the soon-to-be-opened Dialysis Unit at the Alexandra Hospital have arrived on Nevis. The team comprises three nurses from the Philippines, who have specialist training and experience in haemodialysis, and a biomedical technician who will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of the unit’s specialised medical equipment. Minister of Health in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), the Honourable Senator Jahnel Nisbett, officially welcomed the team to Nevis. “These three nurses bring with them specialist training and experience in haemodialysis and will form an important part of the team at our Dialysis Unit under construction at the Alexandra Hospital. We have also employed a biomedical technician who is essential in terms of equipment maintenance, etcetera. He will also support the entire Ministry. “Welcome to Nevis! We are happy to have you join our healthcare family and look forward to the contribution you will make to patient care on our island.” Minister Nisbett said the arrival of the specialised personnel represents another important step as the NIA moves closer to opening the island’s first dialysis unit. “As we get closer to opening the first dialysis unit on Nevis, every piece of the puzzle is steadily falling into place. Beyond the equipment and construction, having the right people with the right expertise is critical to delivering safe, high-quality renal care right here at home. For our residents who currently make the journey to St. Kitts several times each week for dialysis, we are getting closer to the day when that journey will no longer be necessary.” Construction of the Dialysis Unit is on track for completion in the third quarter of 2026. The facility will be equipped with five state-of-the-art dialysis stations and will have the capacity to accommodate up to 20 patients. There are currently nine dialysis patients from Nevis, eight of whom are receiving financial assistance from the NIA to access dialysis services on St. Kitts. Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, recently advised that the dialysis equipment has been ordered and is already on island and in storage. He also highlighted the NIA’s investment in recruiting a multidisciplinary care team, including a nephrologist, a haemodialysis nurse manager and other support staff, to ensure safe, consistent and high-quality care for patients living with chronic kidney disease. The US$1.3 million investment in the Dialysis Unit is being provided by Destiny Special Sustainability Zone (SSZ) Project developer Olivier Janssens and his team. The funding covers construction of the facility, recruitment of staff and operational costs for the first two years. The two United States-based non-governmental organizations (NGOs) partnered to provide the facility with a substantial quantity of incontinence briefs, toothpaste, lotions, soaps, wipes, toothbrushes and other personal-care items, along with manual blood pressure cuffs. The items were formally handed over during a ceremony held at the Flamboyant Nursing Home. Dr. Lornette Mills, Founder of her Charitable Fund, said the donation was inspired by the positive reports she received about the care being provided to her aunt, Doreen Pemberton, who is a resident of the facility. “I was told that my aunt is being taken care of really well here. Her children, who are my cousins, talk about how well Aunt Doreen is doing here. That’s what prompted it. So, I said when I come to visit her, I’ll bring something for her, and then it occurred to me, well, it wouldn’t be fair just to bring for my aunt, why not bring for everyone else? So, I collaborated with my friends Avonelle and Vida. We do a lot of ventures together and we decided to expand it beyond my aunt to all the other residents of the nursing home and that’s why we’re here. We’re just giving back to the place that gave us so much.” Hospital Administrator Gary Pemberton accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health and expressed appreciation to both organizations for their generosity. “On behalf of the residents and staff of the Flamboyant nursing home and by extension the Minister [Hon. I have said recently that nobody is coming to save the Caribbean. The Caribbean must save itself. Part of that means islands such as Nevis saying to the world: look at us. We are offering physical safety and security, but also environmental security because of the way we care for our environment. We offer a stable community, a robust democracy and respect for the rule of law. We offer an alternative for those seeking safety and security for themselves, their families and their loved ones, and who have the means and ability to come to an island such as ours and, in doing so, contribute to its development. “There is a certain historical symmetry to the challenge. In 1984, one of the world’s smallest sovereign states helped create an entirely new model of investment migration. More than 40 years later, St Kitts and Nevis may again have to reinvent what that model means” For many years the Caribbean sold three S’s: sun, sea and sand. Today I believe there are five: sun, sea, sand, safety and security. Some might even say there is now a sixth S: stability. People want democracy. They want laws that are clear and understandable. They want to know that their investments are protected and that governments will respect those investments. In St Kitts and Nevis, our final court of appeal remains the Privy Council in London. For some investors, that provides an additional degree of comfort. And there is something else that we have which should not be underestimated: freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom of movement and freedom of association. For discerning families and investors, these things are becoming increasingly important Question 2: Investment migration has traditionally been discussed largely in terms of passport strength and visa-free mobility. Nevis’ Teadrian Tross Returns from Goodwill Swimming Championships with Bronze Medal

Tross captured bronze in the Boys 11–12 50m Freestyle on Saturday, August 15, clocking a personal-best time of 27.40 seconds on day two of the Championships. The competition was held at the National Aquatics Centre in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago. Director of Sports Ajaye Newton was among officials and family members who gathered at the Oualie Water Taxi Facility on Monday to welcome the young swimmer home. Newton said Tross’ medal-winning performance came as no surprise, given his consistent performances throughout his swimming career. He said Nevis and the wider Federation are proud of the 12-year-old’s accomplishment. “He’s going to grow from bound to bound and leap to leap. This gold medal, I feel, is just a glimpse of what’s to come from Teadrian. He’s an exceptional ambassador and he does well every time he’s away. Nevis Disaster Management Department Hosts Hurricane Awareness Drive 2026

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (August 18, 2026) – As the Atlantic Hurricane Season approaches its peak period, the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) is stepping up its public education and preparedness efforts across Nevis with a Hurricane Awareness Drive 2026 from August 16 to 22. The Hurricane Awareness Drive, being held under the theme “Preparedness Starts With You”, began on Sunday, August 16, with Climate and Disaster Communications Ambassadors visiting churches across the island. During presentations, the ambassadors highlighted household emergency plans, emergency kits, official alerts, shelters, evacuation considerations and support for individuals who may need additional assistance. The NDMD says faith communities are trusted partners in preparedness, helping to ensure practical and accurate information reaches families through familiar and respected community settings. The initiative continued on Monday, August 17, with a public awareness drive at the War Memorial in Charlestown. Zoe Bendito, Communications Officer at the NDMD, said the activity forms part of the 2026 hurricane awareness drive and includes collaboration with the St. Kitts-Nevis Red Cross. The Red Cross conducted CPR and first aid demonstrations, including information on essential first aid kit contents, basic first aid procedures and CPR techniques. NDMD ambassadors also engaged fisherfolk, vendors, business owners, commuters and other members of the public about their hurricane preparations. The awareness activities continue on Tuesday, August 18, with business outreach and preparedness messages to businesses. Wednesday, August 19, will feature a community symposium at Hickman’s Ground with Ambassadors, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members and Mercy Corps. The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30. August through October generally accounts for the majority of tropical cyclone activity in the Atlantic.
