Premier Brantley: Geothermal Project Advances Toward Drilling Phase

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 28, 2026)- Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, says the Nevis Geothermal Project has reached another significant milestone, with mobilization of the drilling rig expected in the near future as the long-anticipated project moves closer to the commencement of drilling. Providing an update during his monthly press conference on July 28, Premier Brantley, Minister of Finance and Energy in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), said delays that had temporarily slowed progress have now been resolved and the project is once again moving ahead. “On the geothermal project we have seen significant progress. We are hopeful that after some delays occasioned by some internal matters that had to be resolved that we are now full steam ahead. “We expect that the drill rig is going to be mobilized and be with us in short order…I’m told the next step is for us to inspect the drill rig in Iceland and then for the drill rig to be shipped to us. Once it is shipped and on island, we would then expect that drilling should commence this year for sure.” The Premier explained that while the original timeline anticipated mobilization in August, only minor adjustments are now expected. “The initial date we had been given was August. We may have some slight slippage but not much because we expect that now that some issues have been ironed out, that funding is flowing, we anticipate that full mobilization will occur shortly.” Premier Brantley took the opportunity to once again underscore the importance of the partnership between the Nevis Island Administration and the Federal Government, noting that while the geothermal resource belongs to the people of Nevis, the island had long faced challenges in developing it. He said the collaborative commitment between himself and Prime Minister the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew had enabled Nevis to access the international financing necessary to move the project forward. “We are very much looking forward to that and again I go on record to thank Prime Minister Drew and the Federal Government. It is their cooperation partnership on this that has allowed us to get this far. “I’m thankful to him, grateful for that partnership, and we look forward to working jointly to sharing in the benefits to flow and as I’ve said time and time again, for the people of both islands to have clean, cheap, renewable energy available to them…This is how the country is supposed to work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to work on delivering such a significant project for the benefit of the people of Nevis and for the people of St. Kitts.” The Nevis Geothermal Project is one of the largest renewable energy initiatives ever undertaken in the Federation. The project is expected to unlock Nevis’ geothermal resource to generate clean, reliable and affordable electricity for both Nevis and St. Kitts, reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels while strengthening the country’s energy security. Development of the project is being financed through a combination of international funding, including approximately US$51.6 million from the Green Climate Fund through the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), as well as US$20 million from the Saudi Fund for Development. The initial phase is expected to support the development of a 30-megawatt geothermal power plant. Premier Brantley said the commencement of drilling will mark a major step toward realizing a project that has long been viewed as transformational for the Federation’s energy future and economic development.

Premier’s Ministry Extends Special Annual Residency Regularization Deadline to October 30

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 28, 2026)- The Premier’s Ministry is advising eligible non-nationals that the deadline to regularize their status via the Special Annual Residency Status has been extended from May 2026 to October 30, 2026. Eligible applicants may qualify under one of the following categories: The Special Annual Residency Status provides an accelerated pathway to annual residency. Under the normal process, non-nationals are required to obtain three consecutive work permits before becoming eligible for annual residency. This special initiative allows qualifying individuals to obtain annual residency without first completing that requirement. The application fee for the Special Annual Residency Status is EC$2,700. The Premier’s Ministry encourages all eligible non-nationals to take advantage of this one-time opportunity and complete the regularization process before the October 30, 2026 deadline.

Two Women Appointed to Senior Leadership Posts in NIA Ministry of Finance

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 28, 2026)- Two women have been appointed to senior leadership positions within the Nevis Island Administration’s (NIA) Ministry of Finance, bringing experienced public officers into key roles as the Administration strengthens its leadership capacity and succession planning. Speaking at his July 23 press conference, Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance and Human Resources, the Honourable Mark Brantley, highlighted the experience and institutional knowledge the two officers bring to their respective roles. “Effective July 1st, we would have transferred and promoted Mrs. Neva Manners-Limonta. She was formerly Deputy Comptroller at the Inland Revenue Department. She’s now the Principal Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. She brings with her wealth of experience, strong institutional knowledge, and proven leadership capabilities to her new role,” he revealed. Premier Brantley said Mrs. Manners-Limonta’s extensive background in revenue administration and public sector management will further enhance the Ministry of Finance’s capacity to execute its mandate efficiently while supporting its long-term strategic objectives. Mrs. Manners-Limonta’s appointment follows the retirement of former Principal Assistant Secretary Mrs. Joan Browne. Premier Brantley thanked Mrs. Browne for her stellar service to the people of Nevis. The Premier also announced Miss Janesha Daniel’s appointment as Acting Deputy Comptroller of the Inland Revenue Department, noting her demonstrated professionalism and competence during her tenure. “We have promoted Miss Janesha Daniel, who previously served as Assistant Deputy Comptroller at the Inland and Revenue Department. She has now been appointed as Deputy Comptroller, Acting, effective July 1st, 2026. Having demonstrated exceptional professionalism, competence, and commitment throughout her tenure, she’s well positioned to provide continued leadership within the Inland Revenue Department.” Premier Brantley said the appointments form part of the NIA’s approach to retaining institutional expertise while creating opportunities for leadership development and ensuring continuity as senior public officers leave the service. “That’s demonstrative of us utilizing the skill sets that we have to ensure that we don’t create gaps…we don’t lose any institutional knowledge. We’re not bringing in somebody who’s alien to the organization. We are promoting from inside the organization,” he said, adding that succession planning remains a “live” issue, as the government prepares for the departure of several high-ranking public servants in the near future. He noted that additional appointments will be announced once the Public Service Commission gives the green light, “as we continue to reposition the talent that we have across the public service.”

NIA, Federal Government Resolve Outstanding Issues to Advance Destiny SSZ Project

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 27, 2026)– Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, says recent high-level engagement among key stakeholders has yielded significant progress toward advancing the proposed Destiny Special Sustainable Zone (SSZ) Project. The Premier provided the update during his monthly press conference on Thursday, July 23. “Yesterday a very high-level meeting between representatives from the federal government, representatives from the Nevis Island Administration and representatives from the Destiny developers and the meeting occurred at the Four Seasons Resort. It took up a significant part of yesterday and the whole purpose behind that meeting was to iron out some remaining issues. “The Honourable Prime Minister [Dr. Terrance Drew] would have written to me indicating that having considered the matter at the cabinet, they had four issues that were of some concern and those issues I am advised would have been resolved in that meeting that occurred yesterday and if that is the position it now means therefore that we should be in a position to move forward with that particular project.” Premier Brantley sought to clarify the legal framework governing the proposed Destiny Project, emphasizing that the approval process is prescribed by law, includes multiple levels of oversight, and provides opportunities for public engagement while safeguarding the Federation’s constitutional authority. “The SSZ legislation created a framework for particular types of developments and that is why for development in Nevis that wants to be registered under that legislation it has to first come to the NIA Cabinet, then it goes to the Federal Cabinet, then it has to go to the parliament in Nevis then it has to go to the parliament in St. Kitts. “So it’s a very long process that is why I’ve kept saying to the public, some of whom are quite agitated, I’m not sure why they’re so agitated because I’ve said the information by law has to come to you…We’re still at a very early stage of this, and so I have tried my very best to say to our people that we’ve already given some but there will be further opportunities to engage on this issue of not just the SSZ but whether or not this particular development is a development that we want and the form that that development is going to take.” Premier Brantley assured the public that both he and Prime Minister Drew had been diligent in ensuring that the proposed framework would not infringe upon the Federation’s Constitution and that key constitutional safeguards- including the authority of the Director of Public Prosecutions over criminal matters, the Commissioner of Police over policing and security, and the constitutional roles of Customs and Immigration- would remain fully intact. He reminded the public that the SSZ legislation requires any project agreement to be made public before it is presented to the Nevis Island Assembly, ensuring the public has an opportunity to review and discuss the proposed terms. He urged residents to remain patient and allow the legislative process to unfold. “Take it easy. The agreement will come. It has to come. Let the process work…Let us wait; let us abide the process. Nobody is trying to hide anything. It is just a process, and it would be foolish of us as government to put version after version after version of agreement into the public domain. We’ll put the version that is ultimately proposed by the NIA and by the Federal Government over to the parliament so that people can then engage on that version.” The Destiny SSZ Project, the landmark development proposed for the south coast of the island, is expected to deliver significant long-term benefits to Nevis through increased investment, employment opportunities, expanded tourism offerings, infrastructure development, and sustained economic growth.

U.S. Consular Team to Visit Nevis to Provide Passport Services for U.S. Citizens

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 24, 2026) – U.S. citizens residing in Nevis will have the opportunity to access passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) services locally when consular representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados, conduct a one-day outreach visit to the island on Monday, August 3, 2026. The outreach session will be held at the Nevis Island Assembly Gallery in Charlestown, providing eligible U.S. citizens with the convenience of applying for U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad without the need to travel overseas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises that appointments are required and must be scheduled in advance through the U.S. Department of State’s online appointment system. Following the Nevis outreach, the consular team will continue its visit to the Federation with appointments in St. Kitts from August 4 to 5, 2026, at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort Casino and Spa. Applicants are encouraged to review the passport application requirements and ensure they have all the necessary supporting documents before attending their appointment. Destiny Developers Fund US$1.3 Million Dialysis Centre for the People of Nevis

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 24, 2026)– Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Mark Brantley, has expressed gratitude on behalf of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and the people of Nevis to Destiny Special Sustainability Zone (SSZ) Project developer Olivier Janssens and his team for funding the construction and initial operation of a new dialysis centre on the island. Premier Brantley made the announcement at his July 23 press conference, revealing that the facility, currently under construction on the grounds of the Alexandra Hospital, represents a major advancement in healthcare on Nevis and will significantly improve access to life-saving renal care for residents. “When we started discussions with the developers for the proposed Destiny project, they did say to us, what does the island need? What do you feel that we can contribute to the island that would have a tangible impact? And having discussed with the Cabinet, our conclusion was that it was an opportunity for the island to have a dialysis centre. “I’m very happy that through our negotiations and engagement with Olivier Janssens and the Destiny Group, we have found a way and that is in my opinion a huge gift to the people of Nevis.” The project represents a total investment of US$1.3 million. Once completed, the facility will provide comprehensive renal care through five state-of-the-art dialysis stations with the capacity to serve up to 20 patients. Construction remains on schedule for completion in the third quarter of 2026, with the centre expected to welcome its first patients before the end of the year. Premier Brantley explained that the Destiny developers have fully funded the construction of the facility, the procurement of all dialysis equipment, and have also committed to financing the centre’s operations for its first two years. “What that does is it allows the government then to budget to look at how we will continue thereafter. But it was an opportunity, which in our view as a government, it would have been foolish for us to forgo. And so we were able to get that facility which is on its way to completion, get the equipment which is already on island, hire staff who are on their way, and be prepared to start that service and provide that service for the next two years at no cost to the taxpayers of Nevis. “And so I am very grateful, and let me go on record to say how grateful I am and on behalf of the government and people of Nevis to Mr. Olivier Janssens and his group for donating this dialysis facility and for not just donating it but agreeing to fund it for the next two years. I believe that that is worthy of commendation and I thank them.” The Premier noted that the donation reflects the value of engaging existing economic citizens as long-term partners in the development of St. Kitts and Nevis. He pointed to the dialysis centre, along with the Alexandra Hospital’s state-of-the-art 128-slice Philips CT scanner donated by economic citizen Patrick Drahi through the Drahi Foundation at a cost of just over US$1 million, as examples of how such partnerships can deliver lasting benefits to the people of the Federation. “We need to stop chasing more and more citizens and start chasing the citizens that we already have,” the Premier said. “There is some wisdom in reaching out to existing economic citizens, asking them to contribute, asking them to invest more, getting them involved in a tangible way in the development of this country that they have chosen to become citizens of.”

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 23, 2026)– The Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM)-led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) is delivering a major advancement in healthcare with the establishment of the island’s first dedicated dialysis centre, a transformative investment that will bring lifesaving kidney treatment directly to the people of Nevis. Announced by Premier of Nevis the Honourable Mark Brantley during his monthly press conference on July 23, the project is being undertaken at the Alexandra Hospital in collaboration with Renal Dynamics and private sector partners. The initiative marks a historic milestone in healthcare delivery, eliminating the need for many patients to travel off island for regular dialysis treatment. “The Island of Nevis, for the first time in our history, is in the process of establishing a dialysis centre. The Nevis Island Administration, in collaboration with Renal Dynamics and private sector partners, is advancing the Alexandra Hospital’s first dedicated dialysis facility. “The total investment is U.S. $1.3 million. In terms of capacity, the facility will house five state-of-the-art dialysis stations, accommodating up to 20 patients.” Premier Brantley thanked Olivier Janssens and his team, developers of the proposed Destiny SSZ Project, for funding construction of the facility and providing the finance for all of its operations, including staffing, for the first two years. The facility is designed to provide comprehensive renal care, supported by a multidisciplinary team. The unit will be staffed by specialist dialysis nurses, a biomedical technician, and support personnel, providing access to nephrology services through regional collaboration. Construction is on schedule for completion in the third quarter of 2026, with the facility expected to begin treating its first patients before the end of the year. Currently, nine Nevisians require dialysis treatment. Eight receive financial assistance from the NIA to access services at the Joseph N. France General Hospital in St. Kitts. Premier Brantley explained that while the establishment of a dialysis centre had long been an aspiration for Nevis, his Administration waited until it had secured a viable pathway to deliver the service in a sustainable manner. To help ensure the long-term success of the project, the NIA has partnered with Renal Dynamics, a company with more than 30 years of regional experience in the supply, installation and maintenance of dialysis equipment. The company will provide comprehensive end-to-end support for the project, including procurement, logistics, installation, technical training and ongoing maintenance, helping ensure the facility delivers reliable, high-quality dialysis care for the people of Nevis. As work progresses, Premier Brantley disclosed that the equipment has already arrived on Nevis and four haemodialysis nurses have been recruited, while recruitment continues for a haemodialysis nurse manager. He said the project is a direct response to the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) on the island and reflects the NIA’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare. According to data from the Ministry of Health, Nevis currently has 470 persons registered with diabetes and 606 registered with hypertension through its public health clinics. He noted that these figures do not include patients receiving care through private physicians, meaning the actual numbers are likely much higher. “Those numbers are only those who are accessing care through our clinics… those who are suffering from hypertension or diabetes who are accessing care from their private doctors would not necessarily be reflected in these numbers. So we can tell ourselves that the numbers are, in fact, much higher… That, ladies and gentlemen, is a crisis.” In addition to serving residents of Nevis, the new facility is expected to provide support for dialysis patients from St. Kitts when needed, further strengthening healthcare collaboration between the two islands. Premier Brantley expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for supporting Nevisian patients over the years and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in healthcare infrastructure and services that improve lives and expand access to essential medical care at home. “The development of a Nevis dialysis unit marks a significant milestone in the island’s healthcare journey, improving lives, supporting families, and building a healthier future for Nevis.” The Premier urged residents to take greater responsibility for their health, noting that diabetes and hypertension are among the leading causes of kidney disease and kidney failure.

NIA Provides Nearly $300,000 in Daycare Assistance to Support Single-parent Households

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 20, 2026)– The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) continues to provide substantial support to single-parent households, investing approximately $300,000 in daycare assistance through the Assisted Childcare for Toddlers and Infants on Nevis (ACTION) Plan Daycare Assistance Programme. Minister of Gender Affairs and Social Development, the Honourable Senator Jahnel Nisbett, provided an update on the programme during a recent sitting of the Nevis Island Assembly. “The support that we provide through the Department of Gender Affairs to individuals to support daycare for their infants, that programme, to date, we’ve serviced 67 children, and we have managed to contribute up to $280,000 in support for daycare assistance to our families on the island of Nevis,” she informed. Senator Nisbett said that 15 children enrolled in the programme will graduate this year and transition to preschool. She also reminded the public that enrolment in the programme is open year-round for eligible families with children attending daycare. Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Mark Brantley, expressed pride on behalf of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM)-led administration for developing initiatives that provide meaningful support to families. “It’s a project that we’re very, very proud of. That project came from walking through a community. We were in Hamilton, and a young mother came and spoke to us about the difficulties she was having with daycare, and that’s where this project came from- being in the community, listening to people, and then implementing to try and help people,” he explained. The Premier noted that the government has already invested approximately $56,000 in the programme so far this year. He also pointed out that the financial assistance is paid directly to daycare centres, thus providing support to both families and childcare providers. Currently, nearly 40 families are benefiting from the programme. The Premier encouraged eligible parents to register for the programme to help give their children the best possible start. “We recognize that a lot of our children get their primary foundation in daycare, so we need to be strong at the roots if we want them to grow up and be strong trees and become pillars in the society. “So that programme is certainly still going and the theme that we’ve used is ‘Supporting Working Families and Strengthening Futures.’ So again, a programme that I believe has been assisting people in a meaningful way.” Parents interested in enrolling in the ACTION Plan Daycare Assistance Programme can call 469-5521, extension 6750, or visit the Department of Gender Affairs at the GMBC Building on Government Road. The NIA’s Childcare Assistance Programme supports single-parent households earning $2,000 or less per month and dual-income households earning $3,000 or less per month. Eligible parents may receive up to $300 per month for as many as two children per household, covering children from birth to age three.

NIA CHARLESTOWN, Nevis (July 16, 2026)– Two young educators have been awarded the prestigious Medical University of the Americas (MUA)/Nevis Island Administration (NIA) scholarships, bringing them one step closer to achieving their dream of earning university degrees. During the scholarship award ceremony on July 13, Minister of Health the Honourable Senator Jahnel Nisbett congratulated this year’s recipients, Michaela Maynard and Aliyah Sampson, who emerged successful from a field of eight applicants. “Oftentimes, I think this scholarship might be misinterpreted by some individuals as a scholarship to study at the Medical University of the Americas, but it’s really a collaborative scholarship between the MUA and the NIA to provide funding to individuals to pursue any undergraduate degree up to four years, and we prioritize the priority areas of the NIA, of course. “I know that you’re making the commitment to coming back and giving back to this island that is also pouring into you and giving you this opportunity. So, I’m certain that you’re making that commitment to yourselves, your family, and your community that you will come back and make Nevis even greater than it already is,” she said. The recipients have chosen to pursue bachelor’s degrees in fields that address critical workforce needs on the island. Aliyah Sampson will study Psychology at Midwestern University, while Michaela Maynard will pursue a degree in Family and Child Development at Liberty University. “I keep emphasizing to our young people that they have to take up these opportunities. This one is a particularly impressive scholarship in that you have freedom of choice in where you can study, what country, and so it covers your room and board, tuition, and a whole host of other areas. So I’m thankful for those individuals who took it upon themselves to apply,” Hon. Nisbett said. Dr. Brenda Roman, Associate Dean at the Medical University of the Americas, said the University is pleased to continue its partnership with the NIA in expanding access to tertiary education for Nevisians. “We are proud to have provided over 30 scholarships to students over the years from Nevis, including our newest recipients. I’m especially pleased as a psychiatrist myself to hear that you’re interested in family and child development and psychology. Congratulations. We certainly hope that you will continue to contribute to Nevis, an island that I have certainly grown to love.” Expressing her appreciation, Michaela Maynard thanked the MUA and the NIA for the opportunity, as well as her family and friends for their unwavering support. She shared that her passion for working with children began at a young age and that the joy she found in guiding others has grown into a lifelong commitment to children and education. Aliyah Sampson also expressed her gratitude for the scholarship, saying she was honoured by the opportunity and committed to giving her very best throughout her studies. Also speaking on behalf of the leadership of MUA, Cindy McLoud, CEO of GUS North America, congratulated the 2026 scholarship recipients on behalf of the entire MUA community and wished them every success in their academic pursuits. Following their introduction, all four Bills received their first reading, after which the Assembly was adjourned sine die.

School Leavers Empowered with Essential Money Management Skills at ASPIRE Financial Symposium NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 14, 2026) – Dozens of fifth and sixth form school leavers from across Nevis gained valuable financial literacy skills at the recently held ASPIRE Financial Symposium, an interactive programme designed to prepare young people to make informed financial decisions as they transition into adulthood. Hosted recently at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC), the half-day symposium formed part of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Financial Education Programme, ASPIRE (Achieving Success through Personal Investment, Resources and Education). The initiative seeks to equip the nation’s youth with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to build a secure financial future. Minister of Education and Youth in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), the Honourable Troy Liburd, commended the ASPIRE programme and the Financial Symposium for equipping young people with essential money management skills as they prepare to transition from school into the world of work. “Being able to have money, look at it, know that it’s there and to have it to put to a good use is something good for you to learn, that type of discipline. So, I want to commend our Federal Government for putting this initiative in place. It’s a wonderful project so kudos. I hope that all the young people will gravitate to what you have to offer with ASPIRE. It would really help to put the young people of the Federation on a good footing toward saving and investing for their future,” he said during the opening ceremony. The symposium featured a series of engaging, hands-on activities that combined financial education with interactive learning. Participants explored essential topics including opening and managing a bank account, budgeting and money management, saving and investing, understanding credit and financial responsibility, and setting financial and career goals. The programme was designed to move beyond theory, allowing students to apply financial concepts through games, discussions and practical exercises. Students participated in icebreaker activities examining their attitudes toward money, followed by interactive sessions such as “Sort That Expense,” where they distinguished between needs and wants, and “Living on a 20 Green Leaves Income,” a budgeting simulation that challenged teams to manage household finances and make spending decisions based on priorities and available resources. A guest presentation introduced participants to the ECCU First Step Savings Account, while additional activities focused on smart shopping, financial goal setting, and creating vision boards to encourage long-term planning. Through a spoken word competition and collaborative exercises, students also explored the connection between career aspirations, income, budgeting and saving. The programme also included quizzes and discussions on key financial concepts such as compound interest, inflation, budgeting and saving, helping participants build a stronger understanding of how everyday financial decisions can influence their future. The ASPIRE Financial Education Programme is grounded in the vision of empowering the nation’s youth with responsible financial management skills from an early age. It combines education, entertainment and practical learning experiences to make financial literacy engaging and relevant to young people, while encouraging positive financial habits that can benefit not only students but also their families and communities. Roads Across Nevis to Receive Official Names; Village Boundaries to Be Formally Defined

NIA CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (July 13, 2026) – Roads across Nevis are set to receive official names while village and locality boundaries will be formally defined under a new Nevis Island Administration (NIA) initiative designed to improve emergency response, navigation, postal services, utility operations, and community planning. The initiative, being undertaken by the NIA Department of Physical Planning and Environment in collaboration with the Department of Community Development, comprises the Nevis Road Naming Project and the Village & Locality Boundaries Project. Minister of Physical Planning, the Honourable Spencer Brand, underscored the importance of the initiative, noting that it will significantly enhance the ability of critical agencies, including the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Police, Fire and Rescue Services, the Nevis Water Department, NEVLEC, and the Postal Services, to locate homes, businesses, and other destinations more efficiently. “This is a critically important project for the island of Nevis. It is important for our emergency services, our water department, our electricity department, our postal services. Gone are the days when we can tell someone go down the road by the big stone and the white house. “We are embarking on an initiative where we can give precise location to anyone when it comes to finding a location on the island of Nevis. The Nevis Island Administration Cabinet has given its blessing and is very anxious and eager to see this process completed. We are hoping that we can complete this exercise and have it launched before the end of 2026,” he explained. Director of the Department of Physical Planning and Environment, Deora Pemberton, provided an overview of the project, explaining that the initiative officially began two years ago with an extensive community consultation process during which residents were invited to propose names for roads in their respective communities. “The period of consultation lasted just about three months where we allowed the community members to propose names for their roads and roads within the surrounding communities. That information was relayed to us and we subsequently had it mapped and within the Department we ratified the names. “So where we are right now is the validation sessions with the community, going back to the communities just to present what we’ve completed so far.” Deputy Director Titlon Douglas-Weekes outlined the schedule for the upcoming public town hall validation sessions, where residents will have the opportunity to review and validate the proposed road names and village and locality boundaries before the project is finalized. The public is invited to attend the sessions as follows: Additional validation sessions for the remaining parishes will be announced at a later date.
