Everette Martin Elected Chairman of Chamber of Industry and Commerce

President of the Nevis Division of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mr. Everette Martin

NIA-CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (January 31ST, 2011) — “We as business people [must] redouble our efforts to ensure that we can progress the economy of Nevis.”

Those words, spoken last Thursday [Jan. 27], formed part of Mr. Everette Martin’s first issued challenge, as newly elected chairman of the Nevis division of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, to his team of professionals.

Mr. Martin’s “short but sweet” triumph speech as described by Division Coordinator Ms. S. Patricia Claxton, encouraged the group’s members to use “what had been happening on the international scene” to motivate them to be more successful.

“I believe that the Nevis division of the Chamber has a significant role to play in the business community in St. Kitts and Nevis and primarily in Nevis of course.

“I would ask for your support as we seek to carry out the mandate of the Nevis Division of the chamber,” Mr. Martin said, just moments before he recorded his interest in “working with the St. Kitts Division of the chamber as well.”

“I look forward to a very productive year as we move forward,” he added.

The meeting, which was held upstairs the RAMS Shopping Complex at Stoney Grove, attracted the participation of representatives from various business places on the island including General Manager of the Nevis branch of the St. Kitts Nevis and Anguilla Trading and Development Company Limited [TDC] Mr. Ernie France and immediate past chairman of the Nevis division of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mr. Mark Theron.

In addition to electing a new chairman to serve for the 2011-2012 term, four businessmen: Mr. Warren Moving of TDC, Mr. Ken Evelyn of Superfoods Supermarket, Mr. Mark Theron of Cool comfortable Caribbean Lifestyles [CCCL] and Mr. France were elected to serve as council members.

The St. Kitts-Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce seeks to “improve the standard and quality of life of all people of St. Kitts and Nevis.”
