CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS ( Monday, April 16th, 2012)–  Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry told listeners to the popular radio program, “Tell Me” aired every Thursday night on Choice FM 105.3 that the Opposition in Nevis, the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) has not told the truth about the 203 persons who were wrongfully registered in the parish of St. John’s.

“The opposition party of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) has led the people to believe that it was the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) who just took off names off of the voters’ list without reason, and nothing could be further from the truth as no member of the NRP party has authority to do such a thing ,” said the Premier.

He went on to explain that members of the NRP did object to names on the voters’ list, as the CCM also did .

“ Members of the CCM and the NRP objected to persons on the voters’ list, and it must be noted that the CCM objected to even more names than the NRP did, explained Hon. Joseph Parry.

During the program, Premier Parry noted that there were 8 persons who were objected to but still reside in St. John’s Parish. He explained that the 8 persons could not be found by the postman because they moved from one village to another without informing the post office.

“ The eight persons were, Sabrena Mohamed of Bath Village, Bharat Persaud, of Bath Village, Shanta Persaud of Bath Village, Vishnu Singh of Cane Garden , Bhagwandeen Shiu of Bath Village, Chandrika Backaran of Farms Estate, Esterdal Joylall of Farms Estate and Nahni Singh of Bath Village.”

Premier Parry noted that the postman mistook the name Nahni Singh for someone who had committed suicide here in Nevis sometime ago. He also said that the CCM brought her in from Guyana to testify during the Election Petition Case.
“ Two deceased persons, Joseph Byron (died 2010) and Ionie Tyson (died 2009) were also on the list,” the Premier informed.

According to the Premier, 42 persons who lived overseas were incorrectly registered. In addition, there were 151 persons who live in other constituencies around Nevis but were wrongfully registered in St. John’s parish.

Premier Parry concluded, that it is time that people everywhere are told the full truth about persons who were wrongfully registered on the voters’ list in the St. John’s Parish, and the false information that the CCM has peddled that it was the NRP who simply took names off the list without due cause be cleared up.
