Nurses on Nevis continue to receive overseas training

NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 24, 2016) — In its continued pursuit to strengthen capacity to provide quality health care at Nevis’ six health care centres and the Alexandra Hospital, the Ministry of Health in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) continues to provide training opportunities for nurses.
 
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Nicole Slack-Liburd, told the Department of Information on October 24, 2016, that from March, four nurses have received training and a fifth is preparing to leave in November.
 
In March to April, one nurse received training in the area of Public Health in Taiwan and in May, another received training in Maternal Health. In May to June, one nurse received training in Trauma/Mass Casualty Management in Israel.
 
Another nurse left on October 01, 2016, for training in Respiratory Care in Taiwan over the period October to November and in November, yet another nurse will receive training in Ophthalmic Nursing also in Taiwan.
 
Slack-Liburd, said the Ministry is grateful for the offer of training from the governments and people of Israel and China (Taiwan) for their continued partnership.
