NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 17, 2013)
— The Nevis Island Administration’s Department of Statistics and Economic Planning, is seeking the public’s cooperation, as it conducts the local leg of the upcoming Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Labour Force Survey.

The survey will be undertaken by the National Statistical offices of various OECS member states.  However, in St. Kitts and Nevis, the survey will be undertaken during the months of October and November 2013 and persons assigned by the Department of Statistics and Economic Planning in the Nevis Island Administration will interview persons 15 years and older of selected households.

During the survey, the respondents would be required to give information on matters including demographic characteristics, education and training, economic activity, employment status, industry and occupation and household information.

All information gathered would be utilised by both the public and private sectors to help them better understand the labour force situation in OECS countries in terms of employment and skills.

The Department has given members of the public the assurance that all the information collected would remain confidential and anonymous and as such conducted a training workshop for interviewers which concluded on October 16, 2013.
