Premier congratulates Jessups Senior on 90th birthday
“I have known Mrs. Martin for many, many years and she has always been a hard-working woman who took care of her 12 children and other family members throughout her life. I wish her a very happy birthday,” said the Premier.
The Nevisian leader and area representative told family and friends assembled for the landmark event that the celebration of her 90th birthday is good fortune, and it is important for the family to give God thanks for her longevity and her numerous blessings.
During the brief but significant ceremony, daughter of the celebrant, Mrs. Naomi Douglas said that “Mama has been blessed and caring”. She said she had cared for her twelve children, her niece Carrie and nephew Eustace, and not one of them has passed.
Premier Parry presented Mrs. Martin with a gift basket and a certificate of recognition and sealed the gifts with a big kiss and hug.
“The certificate of recognition is awarded to Mrs. Martin in recognition of her 90th birthday from the Ministry of Social Development”, the Premier said.
The ceremony concluded with singing of hymns and the reading of a bible passage by Mrs. Martin’s home care-giver Mrs. Janet Herbert, who said that caring for Mrs. Martin is a joy and she wished Mrs. Martin many more fruitful years on God’s earth.
