Gingerland Secondary Receives Sign Carved in Stone
CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (October 14, 2010) — The Gingerland Secondary School has added to the beauty of its stone structured exterior with the mounting of a stone carved sign just outside the main entrance area.
The recent donation was made by the men of the Legacy International [LI] Church and was designed by local sculptor Mr. Marvin Chapman.
In an interview with the Department of Information, representative of LI, Mr. Joseph Morton said he was excited about the donation as his church was temporarily using the venue for its sessions so the donation seemed in order.
“We felt that it was a nice way to be able to show our appreciation to the school for what they have been providing to us as students, because I attended this school as well, and as parents and as citizens in the society,” he said.
Mr. Morton, who is also a teacher at the school, said it was important for him and other members of the Gingerland community to invest in the school’s development whether it is through a church group, a community organisation or the parent teachers association [PTA].
“This is our school and we recognize that we have to constantly be giving to the school so that the school will continue to provide quality education for our students.
“There are several other things that we will want to make as a positive contribution so that the school can continue to carry out its mission,” Morton said.
