Nevis Premier and Minister of Finance to host 4th Consultation on the Economy

(CHARLESTOWN,NEVIS–MONDAY,AUGUST 16TH, 2010)  Premier and Minister of Finance the Hon. Joseph Parry, will be host to the fourth Consultation on the Erconomy of Nevis at Occasions Conference Centre, Pinneys Road on Wednesday October 6th, 2010 under the theme “Addressing the decline in Economic Growth: The Nevis Case.”

“The aim of the meeting will be at building consensus among government, the private sector and the Nevisian public in developing an economic strategy for Nevis,” said Premier Parry.

The Hon. Joseph Parry said that through these consultations, the government will continue to work with industry and other partners to identify areas where there is the need to develop the island’s economy of the future.

The Premier explained that the success of Nevis’ economy would not come through any particular government programme or combination of programmes but from a concerted effort which combined Government’s vision and the tenacity of individual businesses.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Laurie Lawrence said that the consultation will facilitate a comprehensive process between the private sector, civil society and the public sector to share information and make recommendations that will enhance the economy.  Premier and Minister of Finance the Hon.
