Nevis Premier issues statement on attack of hotelier
NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (November 08, 2018) — The following is a statement by Hon. Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis regarding the attack on hotelier Mr. John Yearwood in a home invasion on Thursday November 08, 2018.
Statement by Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley The High Command of the Police in Nevis has reported to me that well known and well respected hotelier Mr John Yearwood was attacked in a home invasion in the morning hours of Thursday, November 8th, 2018.
Since that time I have been in regular contact with the Police High Command in Nevis and my Cabinet colleagues. I have also personally sent expressions of my deep regret and sorrow to Mr Yearwood and his family for this unacceptable attack upon them.
The Nevis Island Administration condemns unreservedly this reprehensible act of criminality against Mr Yearwood and his family and calls yet again on the Nevisian public to give full assistance to the Police to eradicate this scourge of crime and violence from our midst.
I have been advised by the Police that 4 persons have been taken into custody and are assisting the Police with their investigations. I thank the public for their assistance thus far in this regard and laud the Police for their quick and decisive response.
I ask that we all remember Mr Yearwood and his family in our prayers that he continues to make a full and speedy recovery.
My government commits to continue our fight against crime and criminality whenever and whenever it raises its ugly head in our beloved island. It is a battle we must win. It is a battle we shall win. In this regard we ask for the continued support and cooperation of the Nevisian public.
