PRESS RELEASE NEVIS WINS SECOND PLACE In the 2012 FCCA Foundation Children’s Essay Contest
Twelve (12) year old of the Ivor Walters Primary School placed second overall in the Caribbean, in the junior division of the 2012 Florida Caribbean Cruise Associatiation (FCCA) Foundation Children’s Essay Contest coordinated by the Nevis Ministry of Tourism.
Each year, the FCCA invites students in the FCCA partner destinations in the Caribbean to participate in the FCCA Foundation Children’s Contest. The contest aims at promoting cruise tourism awareness among the youth. This year’s topic was “What are the memories you would like a cruise passenger to walk away with after visiting your destination?”

As the second place winner in her age group, Dhakiya will be awarded a cash scholarship of US $1500.00. The Ivor Walters Primary School will also receive a monetary award of US $1500.00.
Twelve (12) year old Tassai Pemberton of the Charlestown Secondary School was Nevis’ finalist in the senior division of the contest. She will be rewarded a cash prize of US $200.00.
The overall top winners came from St. Maarten in the junior category and Antigua in the senior category. Nineteen Nations submitted entries for this year’s contest.
