I am nineteen-year-old Marlencia Hanley, a resident of Clay Ghaut, Nevis. I started my formal education at the Gingerland Primary School at the age of five, and then gradually moved on to the Gingerland Secondary School, which is where I obtained my secondary level of schooling. During my tenure at the Gingerland Secondary School I took great pride in participating in extra curricular activities such as netball and track and field which lead to me become one of the top female athletes during my time at my alma mater. I engaged in long and high jump, shot-put, javelin and all races. My hard work and dedication to sporting activities lead to me becoming Class Champion in 2008, 2009, 2010,2013 and Victrix Ludorum in 2013.

 

Academically, I developed a love for both Social Studies and Electronic Documents Programming Management. Upon graduating from high school, I was given the opportunity to participate in both CSEC O’ Level and CCLSC exams which I view as the first stepping stone to my future career. My goal is to become a welfare officer, an ambition fuelled by my love of children and a passion that grew due to some of my own experiences as a child. My heart goes out to victims of child abuse and it is my hope to do whatever I can to bring an end to the horrible acts that so many of our young people have to endure. I hope my presence in the show acts as a message of hope to those children who suffer that no matter the circumstances they can rise above and follow their dreams.

 

My leisure hours are often spent socializing with friends, surfing the internet/web to stay up to date with all the current happenings and dancing, which I absolutely love. I am also a cleaning addict and engage myself in daily house-keeping duties which gives my mind the opportunity to reflect on the past and plan the future. These moments of clarity have lead to me being more thankful for all the things I am and to accept all of the things I am not. I am not perfect but I strive to be the best ME possible.
