CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS (Thursday,November 24, 2011) — Nevis Premier the Hon. Joseph Parry has offered congratulations to the Federation’s Prime Minister, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, on his appointment to Her Majesty’s Privy Council.

“On behalf of the Nevis Island Administration and the people of Nevis, I extend congratulations to the Prime Minister on his appointment to Her Majesty’s Privy Council. It is a well-deserved honour,” said Premier Parry as he spoke to the Department of Information Thursday morning.

Premier Parry noted that this honour is not only an outstanding honour for Prime Minister Douglas but it is an honour for the islands of St. Kitts and Nevis. Prime Minister Douglas is the only four-term Prime Minister of an English-speaking Caribbean island. The other is the late Eric Williams of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is the sole sitting CARICOM leader who is a member of Her Majesty’s Privy Council.
