NIA to hold 9th Consultation on the Economy
NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (September 23, 2015) — The following is a press release from the Ministry of Finance, Statistics and Economic Planning in the Premier’s Ministry.
The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) through the Ministry of Finance will be hosting its 9th Annual Consultation on the Economy, at the Nevis Performing Arts Theatre on Thursday September 24, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The consultation will be hosted under the theme “Framing the New Economy: Inspiring Human Progress and Economic Resilience.”
The consultation facilitates a comprehensive dialogue between the Public and Private Sectors geared towards harnessing information relevant to the development of Nevis.
Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance Hon. Vance Amory will present the Feature Address.
The Key Note Speaker will be Economist Dr. Vanus James. He will highlight the importance of an effective policy framework that promotes resilient growth through capacity development in entrepreneurship and human capital.
Other Speakers for the morning session include Education Planner Dr. Neva Pemberton and Technical Vocational Educational Training (TVET) Coordinator in the Ministry of Education Mr. Orette Smith and Director Social Services Department in the Ministry of Social Development Ms. Sandra Maynard.
The afternoon session will feature presentations by Former Financial Secretary in the Ministry of Finance St. Kitts and Special Advisor the Prime Minister Mr. Wendell Lawrence, Lawyer and Private Sector Representative Dr. Ken Ballantyne and Lawyer and Private Sector Representative Mrs. Jackie Hunkins-Taylor.
