The Office of the Premier in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) advises that the Honourable Eric Evelyn will serve as Acting Premier of Nevis during the period July 24 to 29, 2023.

Hon. Eric Evelyn, Deputy Premier of Nevis, issued an urgent call to young persons on Nevis to be prudent with their finances and to begin saving.

A stretch of road constructed by the Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation (NHLDC) in Phase 2 at Colquhoun Housing Development in Colquhoun Estate, was officially commissioned at a ceremony on February 13, 2020.

Preparation work on the St. Kitts and Nevis Pinney’s Beach Park Project is moving apace with 850 landscaping plants at varying stages of growth propagated at a nursery in Cades Bay. The plants made up of trees and ornamentals will later be transported to the project site near Pinney’s Beach where construction is expected to commence soon.

Two British World Heritage specialists have given the Bath Hotel, Bath Stream and Fort Charles at Bath Village on Nevis thumbs up and referred to them as a remarkable heritage sites. They were at the time meeting with Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Culture, and Hon. Spencer Brand, whose ministry is engaged in the ongoing Restoration Project at Fort Charles. The venue was at the Nevis Island Administration’s conference room in Charlestown on February 07, 2020.

The first 16 of 10,000 trees were planted at the St. Thomas’ Primary School (STPS) on January 29, 2020, as part of an environmentally-friendly islandwide initiative by the Department of Agriculture.  Under the project, both ornamental and fruit trees will be planted at the island’s schools, public areas and homes throughout 2020.

Mrs. Zaiditor Olive Jeffers of Craddock Road was honoured at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Charlestown on December 05, 2018, for her contribution to the community. The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) plans to construct a permanent home for the community-based cultural festival Gingerama at Market Shop. Construction is expected to commence in December, prompting the Gingerama Committee to suspend the 2018 festival to make way for construction.

Former Minister of Culture on Nevis the late Mr. Malcolm Guishard was honoured posthumously for the establishment of the Nevisian Heritage Village in Gingerland at a ceremony on February 22, 2018, to mark its 15th anniversary. A portrait of Mr. Guishard, which was erected at the entrance of the village, was unveiled by his widow Mrs. Yvonne Guishard.

Ms. Celian “Martin” Powell of Zion Village in Nevis, the oldest living person in St. Kitts and Nevis celebrated her 106th birthday among family, friends, government officials, care givers and well-wishers at a ceremony also celebrating her Ghanaian ancestry at the Flamboyant Nursing Home on January 19, 2018.

Four students are now the new recipients of the Alexander Hamilton Scholarship Award. The students were presented with their awards by Hon. Eric Evelyn, Minister of Youth and Community Development on Nevis, on Friday, January 12, 2018, at the Alexander Hamilton Museum Grounds, during the annual staging of the Alexander Hamilton Tea Party in commemoration of his indelible historical presence.
